Put Honey On Your Face! | winter skincare routine

Even though it was 60 degrees the last two days in Seattle, it's still winter. And my skin still knows that. My skin is already dry, so in the winter - the thirst is real. To help combat that, I've welcomed a new addition to my skincare routine.

InstaJanuary

The first month of 2015 was a pretty busy one. But busy in the way that I want it to be busy. Not busy in the way December was busy. This was full of me time and adventures and good times with friends. This is the kind of month I want to be having on the regular.

I haven't been as active on this blog, but I've been plenty active on Instagram, which you can follow me here if you feel so inclined. I thought I'd share a bit of my month with you via my Instagram photos. As you can see, there were plenty of shows (including one huge one with Death Cab for Cutie at the Crocodile), and plenty of selfies. But also lots of this lovely weather we've been having. I took a day trip to Snoqualmie for a Twin Peaks day, I did a mini photoshoot with my friend Laurel the day of the NFC Championships, and spent many a day at Cupcake Royale in Ballard.

I'm making myself be more productive, even if being productive means just blogging. I've had lots of free time lately because of the after-Christmas lull when it comes to getting hours at work, so I have no excuse. No excuses!

See you next month!

A Day In Twin Peaks | Explore

You know how I said this year I was gonna go on more day trips? Well I've already held up my end of the bargain, world!

My friend Holly invited me out to take photos in Snoqualmie Falls and North Bend on our day off and I instantly responded with "HELL YEAH."
So we took the 45-minute drive Thursday morning out to the Falls with coffee in hand, and went on a hike. It was clear in Seattle that morning, but once we got into Snoqualmie, the rain started coming - as did the fog.
This was the best shot I could get of the Great Northern (or the Salish Lodge in real life), and the fog completely washed over the Falls.
To get a better view of the Falls, we took the hike down the trail to the boardwalk over the river.
But once we got to the bottom of the hill, the boardwalk was closed. So no Falls for us that day, but I did get to find out that I'm not in shape. So that was fun.

After taking the long hike back up the hill, we drove into downtown North Bend, or the fictional town of Twin Peaks.
More fog, but this time it made for some eerie goodness. Laura Palmer, nooooo!

We even stepped into the Double R to see how much they'd kept it intact, but there were no commemorative mugs to take home. Now that I think of it, we should have ordered a damn fine cup of coffee and a piece of cherry pie. Oh well, maybe next time.

Are you a fan of Twin Peaks? I've been watching the show on Netflix this last month and I'm loving it. I need to do an Audrey-inspired outfit one of these days.

Top 10 Outfits of 2014

I haven't honestly done an outfit post in months. But since I did a countdown last year of my favorite looks of the previous year, I figured I'd do another one this year. It's only fair. My style has come a long way. And I promise to get back to outfit posts soon. I just need to convince my roommates to go shooting with me.

And without further ado...

SEATTLE ROOM TOUR

I finally finished my room to the point where I could upload a room tour on YouTube - so I thought I'd include it here on my blog. And to be totally honest I completely forgot I took these pictures. So here we go!
Here's my record collection (which has now grown a bit since Christmas).
Along with my shoes (and my shitty wallpaper).
My vanity, and poster corner. I couldn't not put my posters up.
Some art.
My candle collection, along with my old-ass projector that mom found.
One of my new favorite candles, Neroli and Eucalyptus from Pomme Frites Candle Co.
My closet.
And where the magic happens (cue MTV Cribs music).
I love these posters. And my pillows. Aren't they great?

So what do you think of my room? I fucking love it. And guess what? It's my own! I can do whatever I want with it! I can have boys -- cough -- men over. Yay for grownup things!

2015 | Something From Nothing

I haven't talked to y'all in awhile - how is everything? How is life? Did you have a good Christmas? Did you party your brains out on New Years? Here's what I've been up to. At least since we last spoke.

I have been working two jobs (Hot Topic and Lush, both at Southcenter Mall), and running around Seattle like a chicken with its head cut off. I've been back home a few times. I've been running on 5 hours of sleep a night on average. I've almost finished watching The Killing on Netflix. I've started Twin Peaks on Netflix. I've been hanging out with a man. I got a record player for Christmas. I prefunked on Smirnoff and Red Bull on New Years before seeing Reignwolf shred like they always do, and didn't get back to my house for the night until 5 a.m.

It's been crazy. It's been wild. It's been exciting. And it's been a perfect way to end 2014 and jump into 2015.

These are some photos I took of my roommates on New Years Eve. We all looked pretty cute, and I wanted some memories from that night, since I knew it was going to be great.

This is Sarah.
Here's me. Obv.
This is Laurel - she's staying with us until she finds her own place. But we're glad to have her for the time being.
And this is Sonnet.
Shannon wasn't home from California yet - but you best believe that we'll have some pictures of her at some point too.

I titled this post Something From Nothing for several reasons. It was one of my favorite songs of the year, from one of my favorite bands, Foo Fighters. It was the song that kicked off their series Sonic Highways - one that followed the band through recording the album of the same name all the way across the country.

And it's how I want to start the year. Last year was one of the best years of my life. I made some of the best friends I've ever found in this city, ones that have changed my life so much for the better - whether they're still here or not. I finally made the big move. I did it. I made it here. But I have so much more to do with it. I can't just be here and that be enough. I need to make something out of this great situation I've made for myself. I need to make a life for myself - one that includes all these new people I've found.

2014 brought me to a better place, both geographically and emotionally. I've surrounded myself with supportive and encouraging people, ones that have helped me realize my full potential. Ones that have pushed me to make things happen without making me feel ashamed of where I have come from.

Now that I'm settled, and Christmas is over - I'm going to get back into blogging, and back into my life. I'm going to go on more adventures. I'm going to have full and meaningful relationships. I'm going to take day road trips. I'm going to explore my neighborhood. I'm going to kiss more people. I'm going to take more photos.

You can hold me to that.

So while I'm not going to make any concrete resolutions - all the things in that last paragraph are my promises to myself.

I'm going to make something of 2015. Last year gave me a pretty good clean slate to work with.
